Light Filled

Light Filled

A whole house remodel with minimal added square footage. The challenge: remodel the whole house without triggering a “technical demolition”. The primary design consideration was to open up the house so there was great access between the living room and kitchen / dining are without having it be one enormous space. The other main criteria was to create convenient outdoor space for relaxation and entertaining. The result is a kitchen which has a window facing the front walk, but also a view and access through french doors to the rear covered patio The Family room shares the other wall of the covered patio with large french doors. Thisarrangement is ideal for entertainment, allowing easy circulation in and out of the house. Higher ceilings were a must , since the owner is quite tall, and feels a bit cramped under most standard height ceilings. As a response ceilings in all main rooms and the hallway were pushed up to 9’. Multiple skylights, located in the kitchen, hallway, laundry and covered patio area provide lots of
natural light allowing the owner to live in the house without turning on lights most days.
